Welcome to the department of Prevention & Community Health...

Prevention & Community Health is a department of Allegiance Health System in Jackson, Michigan. The department was organized in 2000 to carry out operations of our Health Improvement Organization (HIO), develop programs to improve the general health and welfare of Jackson area residents, and raise funds to support other Jackson health-related organizations and programs. To accomplish this mission, we partner with community health agencies, educators, business leaders, and local government to create a seamless health improvement infrastructure that addresses Jackson’s highest priority health issues. Our success in creating high-impact programs has been acknowledged by the Centers for Disease Control, which last year selected us as one of nine groups to include in a national study of best practices in health management.  We were also selected as a Finalist for the American Hospital Association’s 2006 NOVA Award.

Our key program areas include the following:

In addition, the department participates in the following initiatives:

  • Access to Care
    • Health Care for All
